THE CONVERSION OF OFFICES INTO HOUSING

In its multiple forms, the conversion of tertiary buildings into housing buildings is an essential part of renovation architecture and requires architects to develop high skills and overcome constraints in existing buildings, both aesthetically and technically.



THE PRIZE

Through the International Prize for the conversion of offices into housing, Greater Paris Investment Agency and the Maison de l’architecture Ile-de-France want to highlight some remarkable achievements of offices converted into housing, both in terms of architectural quality and usage-driven innovations.

Raise the awareness of elected officials to the benefits they can get from renovated housing

PARTICIPATE!

Proposed projects feature physical and concrete transformations of an offices building into housing and all or parts of the achievement (or series of achievements) shall be completed or in progress or with a building permit by the time of the application. The following applicants may apply to the International Prize:

General contractor

You have designed and completed a conversion of offices into housing.

Public or private, open to all nationalities. The role of the architect in the project is central.

Professionnals

The winner’s project has to be the result of a close collaboration between a project manager carrying a strong will to fixing the housing crisis and a creative team on the general contractor’s side in which the architect’s role is central and leading.

The proposed conversion of offices into housing have to result in physical and concrete transformations of an offices building into housing. All or parts of the achievement (or series of achievements) shall be completed or in progress or with a building permit by the time of application.

Projects can either be conducted on French territory or abroad, in urban or periurban area and completed within the last 5 years.
